Estimated cost to run your electric oven
£0.50per day used
Uses 2 kWh on each day it's used (2,000 W × 1 h).
How it works: cost = power (kW) × hours used × price per kWh. Standing charges aren't included because you pay them whether or not the appliance is on.
Estimates only. Real consumption depends on the model, settings and how the appliance is used.

How electric oven electricity use is measured
Electric ovens heat up at full power, then the thermostat switches the elements on and off to hold the temperature. The rating on your oven is its maximum; average use over a cooking session is usually lower.
How to calculate your electric oven running cost
Cost = power (kW) × hours used × price per kWh
Example only: at 2,000 W for 1 hours, a electric oven would use about 2 kWh, costing around £0.50 at 25p per kWh. Used 5 days a week, that's roughly 521 kWh and £130.36 a year. Your own figures may be quite different.
Why actual usage varies
- Temperature setting.
- Preheating time.
- Opening the door, which lets heat escape.
- Fan versus conventional mode — fan ovens can often cook at a lower temperature.
Ways to reduce the cost
- Avoid unnecessary preheating.
- Batch cook several dishes at once.
- Keep the door closed.
- Use a microwave or air fryer for small portions.
