How annual electricity cost is calculated

Annual cost = yearly kWh × price per kWh + (daily standing charge × 365)

Example: 2,700 kWh at 25p per kWh is £675. A 50p daily standing charge adds £182.50, giving an estimated £857.50 a year.

Things that can change your annual cost

  • Tariff and price cap changes during the year.
  • Seasonal usage, such as more lighting and heating in winter.
  • Changes at home — new appliances, working from home, or an electric vehicle.
