How to use the calculator
- Enter how much electricity you use in kWh and choose the period — per hour, day, week, month or year.
- Enter your unit rate in pence per kWh. The example value is only a starting point.
- Choose whether to include your daily standing charge.
Energy cost vs standing charge
The energy cost depends on how much you use. The standing charge is a fixed daily amount you pay for your supply, even if you use nothing. Including it shows a fuller picture of what you might pay.
Example
Using 8 kWh a day at 25p per kWh costs £2.00 a day in energy. With a 50p daily standing charge the estimated total is £2.50 a day, or roughly £912.50 a year. These are example figures — use your own tariff for your estimate.
